Shane Cooley Singer/Songwriter BOOKING:     CooleyMusic@Gmail.com EPK:     Sonic Bids Shane Cooley was born over forty years too late. The folk rock singer/songwriter seems a bit misplaced amidst the computer- enhanced drone of the 21st Century. Despite his unfortunate timing, Shane's affinity for the music of the 1960s and 70s has helped him develop the kind of qualities that have survived over the decades. When all the frivolities and gimmicks are stripped away from an artist, two things truly matter: strong songs and a compelling performance. Shane puts these in the forefront, toiling over the hundreds of songs he has written to select the absolute best for his recordings and live performances. In college, Shane earned his BA in English by juggling his music with papers about Medieval literature. Now, he devotes all his time doing whatever it takes to get his music heard. Hailing from rural Virginia, the 23-year-old has made a name for himself over the course of his decade long career, gaining a reputation of professionalism and being on top of his business. As a result, he has managed to turn some heads, touring the United States coast-to-coast, and recently showcasing at South by Southwest. His performances have preceded headliners such as Bruce Hornsby, Carbon Leaf, and Lucinda Williams. He also performed on stage with the pop band Parachute. He recently received recognition for his efforts by winning second place for "Best Male Artist" in the 2010 International Acoustic Music Awards. Shane's new record, West Land, displays this dedication. West Land reflects his life on the American road, pioneering his music one city at a time. Partnering with producer Stewart Myers (Jason Mraz, Lifehouse), Shane envisioned a record that gives a generous nod to the folk and rock n roll of the 1970s, playing most of the instruments himself. The result, unsurprisingly, is an album that Shane calls, "the first record that truly sounds like me." He has also recorded many other full-length albums, EPs, and demos have received worldwide radio airplay on stations such as XM/Sirius and Radio Gets Wild Worldwide. Shane Cooley has no misconceptions about what it takes to be a savvy musician in 2011, but he believes that nothing is more important than a solid live show. He never lets the bleak odds of the industry get in the way of the opportunity to share his music with an audience. Off stage, Shane works around the clock honing his skills and making new connections. On stage, he remembers why he does. When you see him in concert, you are seeing him at his finest, because he knows he has earned it. |
